Homemade Baguettes


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups warm water

  • 2.25 tsp. Yeast (active dry or instant)

  • ½ tbsp. salt

  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

Preparation (no bread machine)

  1. In a large bowl mix together the warm water, yeast, and salt until yeast and salt are fully dissolved using a whisk.

  2. Add the flour 1 cup at a time and stir together until a sticky dough forms.

  3. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and leave it for 2-3 hours in a warm place.

  4. After the dough has risen, preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Leave the cooking sheet in the oven while preheating.

  5. While the oven is preheating, knead and roll out dough to desired baguette shape. Make one long baguette or 2 smaller.

  6. Once the oven is preheated, remove the cooking sheet and spray with olive oil.

  7. Lay baguette on a cooking sheet and bake in the oven for 35 minutes on top rack.

  8. While baguette is baking add another cooking sheet in the bottom rack of the oven filled with water. This will make your baguette perfectly crisp on the outside!


Preparation (with bread machine)

  1. In the bread machine add your water first. Then add the flour & form a well. In the well add your salt & yeast.

  2. Turn on the dough setting & let machine mix & rise dough for an hour & a half.

  3. After the hour & a half, preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Leave the cooking sheet in the oven while preheating.

  4. While the oven is preheating, knead and roll out dough to desired baguette shape. Make one long baguette or 2 smaller.

  5. Once the oven is preheated, remove the cooking sheet and spray with olive oil.

  6. Lay baguette on a cooking sheet and bake in the oven for 35 minutes on top rack.

  7. While baguette is baking add another cooking sheet in the bottom rack of the oven filled with water. This will make your baguette perfectly crisp on the outside!
